The Las Virgenes Municipal Water District made the following announcement:
"The Westlake Filtration Plant, which treats water from Las Virgenes Reservoir in Westlake Village, came online on Thursday August 26, the latest summer-season start in the history of that facility. Customers in the west end of the LVMWD service area may notice a slight change in the taste and scent of their water, which is normal. Water from the reservoir is fully treated, tested and safe to drink before being sent into the LVMWD distribution system.

Synopsis
A number of Westlake Revelations readers have asked questions surrounding LVUSD's budget crisis, furlough days and more. The District encourages everyone to contact the District Office directly and they will be happy to answer questions, and provide information.
In an effort to bring out information to more people, Westlake Revelations did a written Q&A with Dr. Donald Zimring, Superintendent of Schools of the Las Virgenes Unified School District.
Questions were taken from Westlake Revelations readers and organized into this interview. Answers are in Dr. Zimring's direct words.
It's a considerable amount of effort to answer a written interview like this, and Westlake Revelations thanks Dr. Zimring for his time and willingness to do this written style interview.

Did you miss the "all call" from the City of Westlake Village today? If so, here's the full text of the message. Take note of the date, and street closures which will affect Westlake Village residents.
"Hello, this is Ray Taylor, City Manager of the City of Westlake Village. I am calling to provide information on the May 23 Amgen Tour of California Professional Cycling Race that will occur throughout the Conejo Valley Region.
The Westlake Village City Council has approved T-Mobile's application to build a "wireless communication facility" on the Las Virgenes Metropolitan Water District property. See earlier Westlake Revelations articles with pictures of the planned "mono-elm" camouflaged tree antenna. The T-Mobile installation would service T-Mobile customers for all services, and additionally E911 services for AT&T customers.
Some Westlake Revelations readers have asked again about whether the City of Westlake Village can vote no on the proposed T-Mobile cell antenna, and have cited several cities and legal cases.
In looking at the examples given, most of the law suits where the cities prevailed were on cell towers that were 100-150 feet tall, and more importantly, above the tops of the existing ridge or tree line (i.e., tree canopy). Others were won when the provider asked for more sites than necessary (e.g., an application for 4 antenna locations when 3 would provide similar coverage).
Normally, Westlake Revelations doesn't cover such things, but a number of readers have asked for an update on the suicide on Friday.
The victim was Westlake Village resident Tiffany Lindsey, age 24. On the day of the event, LA County Sheriff received calls about a shot fired, and an abandoned call. That combined with the missing persons report lead them to find the victim on the trail, and was apparently a suicide.
Today, residents of Three Springs received the results from the HOA's survey. The survey had responses from 273 of the 481 households (56.7%). The full results are below in the scan.
Key results for respondents include:
Many Westlake Revelations asked about the helicopter activity in Westlake Village today. A helicopter was hovering over the area near the dam end of Westlake lake for an extended period of time.
LA County Sheriff received a call that started off as a missing persons call. They responded to the trail head near the corner of Triunfo Canyon and Lindero Canyon this afternoon, and found an adult white female inside a parked vehicle. She had apparently shot and killed herself. The case is being investigated by the LA County Sheriff and appears to be a suicide.
A few brief items from tonight's Westlake Village City Council meeting.
The City Council voted to continue the T-Mobile cell antenna vote for Three Springs until a future date to give the Three Springs HOA time to complete their survey. More to come on this at a later date.
City Engineer John Knipe announced that the freeway on ramp for the 101 N on Lindero is now open again, approximately 10 days ahead of schedule.
A couple of things to clarify about the Westlake Village city council vote on funding for LVUSD's technology programs.
First, each of the four cities pays the same amount per student. The total amount varies by the estimated student population in each district. Westlake Village (approximately $72,000) and Hidden Hills (approximately $17,000) pay their portions out of their general funds. Agoura pays out of a redevelopment fund, and Calabasas out of a trust (about $250,000 each).
On Wed night, the Westlake Village City Council will vote on funding for LVUSD's Technology Funding. This is part of the "4 Cities" agreement where the four local cities (Calabasas, Hidden Hills, Agoura Hills, and Westlake Village) join together to fund technology needs that cannot be paid for by Measure G (the bond can only pay for capitalized items).
Some outstanding questions and clarifications.
First, a correction. At least some of the lawn signs were STOLEN not taken down by homeowners.
[OPINION ON]
Not only is that breaking the law, it's not appropriate behavior regardless of anyone's position on the issue. Stealing a lawn sign is at least as bad as those that mislead others on informatio, or prevent people from asking questions in an open forum.
Remember, this is a community. Be civil. Be neighbors.
